Happy Birthday, Eric!

Eric is a whopping 28 today! Born in the 80's. I'm so glad I robbed the cradle! Best decision I ever made. Here are some of my favorite pics of Eric.... Some have other people in them. I don't know how to take them out. :)

Happy Birthday, Parker!

Our little boy is 2 years old today! I love Parker so much it makes my heart ache just to think about it. He absolutely lights up my world.

I actually MADE his birthday cake this year from scratch, the whole thing!

Eric helps Parker blow out the candles at his birthday party on Saturday. After everyone sang, "Happy Birthday," Parker yelled, "Again!"

We started off his day today with his favorite "Little Einsteins" TV show. He held his toy Rocket as we watched.

Then we headed off to the aquarium, Parker's favorite place, to look at the fish and eat lunch.

3:34pm

Both of my kids have been asleep at the same time for 30 minutes! This moment goes down in history!

Lost All Cool Points

I was out at lunch with my friend, Vicki, yesterday at one of my favorite restaurants. As I was playing "Ring Around The Rosy" with Parker and Vicki's daughter, Haley, trying to keep them out of the blob of Abigail's spitup on the ground, Vicki looked at me and said, "we've now lost all cool points." Not that I was ever really into being cool, but she was right. It made me laugh, and it made me tired.
Things I took for granted before I had kids:
1. Quiet lunches with a friend.
2. Using the bathroom with the door closed.
3. Not having to wait in line to use the handicap bathroom. (It's the only one the stroller will fit into.)
4. Tipping 15% (Instead of 20% to cover the mess on the floor.)
5. Listening to the radio in the car.
6. Boobs that serve no practical function.
7. Sleep.
8. Movies- in the theater.
9. Carrying one purse.
10. Vacuuming once a week.

I wonder what I'll look back on 5 years from now and realize that I'm taking for granted.

My Dad

I love my dad. He's going to kill me for putting this picture of him on the blog. But, he'll secretly love it. Happy Father's Day, Daddy!

Happy Father's Day, Babe!

I really truly believe that my husband is the world's greatest dad. Seriously, I really truly believe that all of you other girls out there can't possibly have it as good as I do. I'm not writing that to be a snot. I hope that you think the same thing of your husband. :)

Why is Eric the best? I'll list some of the reasons. Eric gets up at night to feed Abigail, prefers to have a kid with him when he runs errands, calls if he's going to be late from work, still tells me that I'm beautiful even though I have the double baby belly, gets that twinkle in his eye when he looks at the kids, changes the poopy diapers, sings The Itsy Bitsy Spider with hand motions just to make Parker smile, and already talks about how hard it's going to be to watch Abigail get married. I really could go on and on.

Back In The Saddle Again

So, maybe I'm not back in the "saddle", but I am back in the "two kids screaming, goldfish everywhere, stash of pacifiers on hand at all times, stroller that fills the entire trunk, thank God for the DVD player SUV."

Parker will be two years old in two weeks. Abigail is 8 weeks old today.

Why have I been absent from the blog world? Let me tell you...

When Abigail was 4 weeks old I realized that I'd been taking pain killers for 4 weeks straight because the pain from my C-section hadn't gone away. So, I called my doctor. I went in to see the midwife. I was diagnosed with postpartum depression.

When Abigail was 5 weeks old I went back to see the midwife because I couldn't shake my 103 fever and I had horrible aches and chills. I was diagnosed with the flu.

Two days later I could barely even walk. Eric took me to the hospital. I was extremely dehydrated, had blood pressure of 81 over 39, and I barely even knew what was going on. It turns out I did not have postpartum depression or the flu. I had an infection that we think started in the hospital when I had Abigail. Imagine having an infection for 6 weeks. It was bad.

So, now, she's 8 weeks old. I am finally off all pain killers and meds. I actually have energy for the first time in months! And, I'm getting to know my daughter. I'm so happy to be able to contribute to my family again.

Thank you everyone who came over and helped with the kids, brought meals, and gave us support. It's been a long 2 months.

For those of you who are around Eric, please take him a cup of coffee at work or give him a pat on the back, or send him an encouraging email. He has literally held our family together. He's worked his butt off to keep us floating. Thanks, babe! I love you!

Here are some pics to give y'all an update on the kids...

Almost a 2 year old!
